Artjewelsz After School Workshops

I offer three types of classes specifically for kids. Artjewelsz After School, Artjewelsz Studio, and Schools Out Jewelry Workshops.

Artjewelsz After School is a one-hour class that takes place at the schools and is run by Enrichment Academies (EAI). Once these classes resume, I will provide links to sign-up here. To attend, your child must be a student at the school where they are offered. For these classes I come each week with all the tools and materials for a very loosely designed project designed to teach them a specific technique. I bring blanks for them to work on that I precut in my studio. Most of the time I use bronze, but sometimes I bring nickel silver or copper for variety. There is a lot of hammering in this class and some kids may want to bring ear plugs. I provide safety glasses for them to wear. I have over 50 different design stamps as well as several fonts. I also teach them some fold forming and forging techniques. The kids often come to my class with a plan of their own and I like to encourage that. I leave them plenty of room for self expression so that each of their pieces will be a one-of-a-kind work of art.

Artjewelsz After School - Studio takes place at my home studio in Somerset which is in the town of Chevy Chase, MD. In these classes we have the benefit of being able to work with the torch as well as several other tools that either don’t fit in my suitcase, or are frowned upon in elementary schools. Classes are limited to 4 students and are 1 hour long. All tools and materials needed for the class are provided. Kids should bring their own sketch pad and a small plastic bin to keep the pieces they are working on. This class requires a waiver that will be sent to you after registration. Kids need to come with their hair tied back, closed shoes, and I recommend either wearing an apron or work clothes.

Schools Out Jewelry Workshops are three hour workshops scheduled for days when schools are closed. All tools and materials are provided and the workshops take place in my home studio in Chevy Chase, MD. unless it is otherwise noted. Each workshop focuses on a different loosely defined project so that each person leaves with a unique piece. These workshops are appropriate for all ages and are great for parents and kids to do together.
